Ugh. I don't mind burning wood but I'm not interested in starting winter early.

Oh, you know everything is temporary here in Central PA. I remember 76F on New Years a couple of years ago.

Yup. Calling for mixed rain and snow starting late tonight and lasting until Sunday. High of 45. Looking like a bit of red pine in the menu... :fire:

Tomorrow night is our end of season league party for softball, and the low is set to be 44. We hold the party at a local farm that has an area for parties with a fire pit. There are plenty of activities for the kids, and the adults can bring some lubrication to keep the cold off. No not K-Y. Alcohol.

That's exactly what I do. Switching over the front porch from summer mode, (rocking chairs & table) to winter mode with wood boxes and kindling crates. Love the dogs!

We've got a frost warning tonight and I think a freeze warning on Monday night. Hauled in some chunks and ugly pieces and a little bit of pine. In our forecast it looks like it will warm back up after a couple of days so I didn't fill the wood box too full. I really like this weather (highs in the 50s, lows in the 30s, clear) and this time of year. It could stay like this for awhile and I would not complain!

We were in the 20's this morning and mid to low 20's predicted for tonight. Haven't lit a fire yet as the wife brought in all the winter squash and pumpkins we were hardening off outside. The only place she had room to put then for now was in front, on top, and around the wood stove. So we got store them before I can get at the stove. I don't mind because very soon it will be game on, and it won't be over till April.

Yeah mountain man we get similar weather:D Thankfully my wife puts all squash in basement as I won't turn on heat til it gets too cold for stove to keep up. my wife like her heat. but this year time from almost 80 to first frost was short. Squash, pumpkins apples are stacked and racked in basement... Applesauce cooking in slow cookers. wood splitter and tractor warming out back. good food and warm house diesel fuel smells.. I love fall:thumbs:

It's our house, it was built in the 1830's. There are a few exposed walls inside also.
