I stopped at the one in Farmington, seemed pretty well stocked to me, I didn't shop around much, I knew what I wanted and I had the hounds in the SUV, they were $86, so nothing special on the price.

I'll have to stop and check it out one of these days. If you're not too far from Hampden Harold's Logging is quite well stocked and is decent on his prices. Probably 5 years ago I bought a new pair of full wraps for around $75. He has good prices on Oregon chain and even better if you know pitch gauge and number of links so he doesn't have to look it up.

Sounds like a Mainah. Didn't know about the place, always good to know where to buy locally, that's what I prefer.

So we spent three hours taking down a white birch a few weeks ago wore our chaps the whole time. We were cleaning up when my brother just had to make one last quick cut didn't put on his chaps because what's one little cut right?........13 stitches just above the knee and some new jeans really lucky for sure

Sorry your brother had to learn that the hard way. I did. Many others have too. Hope he's healing up OK.

Well I spent a little bit of my chainsaw fund today on some safety gear - a pair of the Husqvarna chainsaw pants, and some kevlar gloves.

    TreeStuff - Husqvarna Chainsaw Pants
TreeStuff - Youngstown Kevlar Lined Gloves

I threw a chain off my MS460 earlier this spring, and since then I've been thinking about better protection for my hands as well. Luckily, I was cutting with the bottom of the bar at the time, so it wanted to throw the chain away from me. It launched a good 15-20' off the end of the bar - I don't think it would be any fun to catch that sucker.

Thanks for the reminder. My luck is sure to run out sometime, and I had better be prepared for it.

He's right on rt 1 right by Hampden Marina. Between Bangor and downtown Hampden, closer to Bangor. I've been buying stuff from him for years for my skidder, I thought he would have retired by now but he and his wife are there most days. His son works there quite a bit as well. Good family business.

Nicked my left knee cap a couple years back stepping through some thick brush. I just finished a cut and took a step while the chain was still moving. Thankfully it wasn't bad, needless to say I now own chaps and always try to remember them. :D

I got it because it has a replaceable tip, and it was about half the weight of the other they had. I was a little worried about the shape of the tip not working as well as the pointy ones, but I figured Labonville would not be selling it if it didn't work. I see Peavy has a bunch of different shaped tips for different uses, although they don't say what those uses might be, and none of them are replaceable. Used it for a while today while splitting and it seems to work fine.

Thanks from prompting me. I don't cut anymore for physical reasons, but my son, who lives here now, does. However, he is inexperienced and doesn't own a pair. He uses two of my saws when he is trimming things up here. So, for whatever
protection I can offer, I just ordered him a pair off Amazon. Read the reviews before I selected to make sure these had the right layers of the right material to protect from gas powered chain saws. Had no idea they had different grades.
