I'm looking at those El Caminos... Slap some stake sides on there and go low ridin' for some firewood!
Finished stacking up the maple - somewhere north of 1.5 cords. I think I can fit 2 on this pallet, stacked 5' high. I call this one, "Backyard of a Wood Hoarder"
Thanks Eric, starting to really feel the age creeping up on me. As far as the neighbor is the city. We are allowed to have ONE season or firewood neatly stacked off the ground. Other than a stack that fell over and a small amount still piled on the ground (along with the mulberry and sugar maple) I have some pallets that need cleaned up, easy fix. My big problem will be the amount of wood I have. My north property line is for a neighbor (I will use some), but is still on my property. I feel that I am close to 3 years worth for my use and I'm not sure that they will buy the "3 years for it to dry/season" argument. She was giving me quite the stares yesterday when I was stacking the pile on the ground and she was out mowing. She is also known as "the Principle" if that gives you any clues. I ran into her a few years ago when I took down a small maple for the neighbor and stacked the wood in his log holder. I put some behind it that was touching her fence. Of course, I took care of it, but............. Great looking stacks everyone.
Stacks for this winter. For down the road... More for down the road and some that still needs to be stacked. This one was about 7' and almost fell over this summer. Had to take a little off and straighten it up. Last Saturday's work. Still need to split and find somewhere to stack it. Should be over the 3yr mark soon!
Great stacks, I have high hopes of copying Deacon setup... I do not mind stacking wood but it drives me crazy to unstuck this year's wood that's outback and then put it in trailer and then restack on wood deck. if I get time to build his pallet racks and put forks on Kubota I could skip this step... as wood has to be close to house for winter when snow gets deep...
That's the sort of setup I'd like to get my dad on. He doesn't stack his wood anymore cause his back won't take it for very long. He just has the tree guy dump it on the concrete pad in the barnyard, and there it sits until he needs it. Then he scoops it up with his FEL and dumps it in a garden cart that he wheels into the garage. If he had some racks like that, he could keep it off of the ground and still not need to handle it very much. The setup I'm dreaming of for myself looks a lot like DaveGunter's... Great pics so far everyone!
The only recent pic I have is the one I took last night in the section I am stacking right now, had to replace a rotted pallet. I'll get more pics tonight when I get some more stacked. I have close to 42 cord on hand, with some yet to split. And still have roughly 2 cord of red oak to bring home from a job site. Ugh.....
