It's that time of the year Smokinpiney

My 2 kids are fighting colds, and of course so am I. My sister is recovering from pneumonia and a family we know have 2 kids with it and the 2 parents suspect they each have it as well. Can't imagine, I am making them some chicken pot pie and mashed for dinner. It will be delivered in full "Outbreak" gear.

    Back 2 school...

My wife is a preschool teacher, so her immune system has become pretty stout. Happens when four year olds sneeze in your mouth on a daily basis. Unfortunately, that stuff still gets passed on.

Normally I'd go to work feeling like this but with the way baby piney feels i figured it was best to stay home. I'm not around alot of people at work so i don't really worry about spreading germs

Gotta love small town Maine when it comes to gettin' an ole Jeep inspected. They know I don't use it much... mostly for plowing snow. And, they remember it from the service they give it. The inspection was... how many miles (300 since last year) and where was the reg... scrape off the old sticker and put on the new... $12. I like that... a lot. When we got our 2 crane trucks inspected years ago, it seemed like they couldn't even get started until they'd stuck us for $500 on... sumthin... o_O

Chicken pox reported by a parent. Fortunately not too many teenagers get it but I am sure it will run rampant through the elementary school. Glad I work in a high school. I get itchy just typing about it. Soooo off to work I go!

I thought there was a vaccine for chicken pox? Also, there is a commercial for shingles vaccine. Are you vaccinated?

There is, baby piney just got it on monday. My dad unfortunately got a case of shingles on the right side of his head a few weeks ago. He was lucky enough to realize what it was right about the time the infection reached his eye. Docs put him on some serious meds to keep him from losing the eye

Nice and cool this am had dentist appointment GF was already started on the driveway clearing when I got home.
Dropped a dozen small pines and several more elms. It was WORK on the other side, one mulberry and two sweetgums all intertwined with muscadine vines.
Got a bunch of good burn piles for the winter

Your lot is nice Basod. No wonder you like it down there... looks like it could be in Maine... without the snow/cold.

Thanks Stinny, that's just down the drive(steep as horse's face) - and no you don't want to attempt it with any snow/ice;) I shovel with a leaf blower:D

If I follow up with some roundup when those dang elms re-sprout next spring, coupled with dropping 5-6 more sweetgums in that area some of the oaks & hickories should fill in and keep it open.
The last pic near the white oak stack is what most of it looked like - dang elms can't kill em:headbang:

    Practicing

An indoors update...I have some herbs and peppers going. Trying to get a tomato plant to grow. I could kick myself for not buying some this summer.

Firewise I haven't been burning much since changing my diet.

Had a family get together tonight, at an Elk's club my brother belongs to. Had a nice dinner while my sister is home from the west coast. They cooked up a nice Roast Beast dinner. Mashed potatoes and gravy, carrots, fresh rolls that were crusty on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. Delicious! Good people and good food.
