There have been a couple of threads about wearing your chaps lately, I had gotten a bit lax about wearing them but luckily had them on this past weekend. There was one layer of the protective material left:faint:

I was out in Western Maine hiking with the hounds the next day and passed a Labonville factory outlet store so I stopped in a picked up a new pair and a hookaroon.:) They had green or red, the sales lady said most guys pick red, "cuz if something happens it'll be easier to find you"

And there it is Dave... your ole chaps did the job... A good reminder for us, me especially... I can't hear it enough... no such thing as a "ah, it's just a couple cuts, don't need the chaps/ear cups/eye protection". Really glad you had em on...

Glad you're ok! I really need to start wearing mine all the time. I just hate how they fit on me; I'm thinking maybe some full chainsaw pants might be better for me.

The next thing will be to find some hookeroon protective pants. :D I've stabbed myself in the shins 3 times with that thing! :pain:

I have a pair with a smaller close call. Just enough to cut the outside of them. I want to get something that covers everything, and not just the front and sides. I looked at a pair of pants at the Wood Chop Shop once. But have not purchased yet. Anyone wear the full pants? Anyone wear the protective chainsaw boots?

Its basically from not stopping after I get tired. My forearm is pretty wore out by the time I get the trailer loaded up with splits. Ill start to choke up on the handle a bit to make it lighter so I can push though. Problem is, if you miss the split and overclock your swing, your shins are right there, and so is the pointy end of the tool. :zip:

my coworker somehow ran his knee into the slow moving chain as he was repositioning the saw for another cut, took 8 stitches to close it up and he missed a week of work. He has since gone down to the Stihl dealer and bought a pair of chaps. I need to do the same

I drive that place quite often but have never been in. Buy some stuff online from them. Do they have much of an inventory in skowhegan or is it hit or miss?

Good thing you had them on Dave.
GF got me a pair last Christmas and I've worn them ever since - 20yrs of running saws my luck is sure to run out sometime, as Dave has shown.

Now get you a bell bike helmet and cheap plastic goggles and you're good to go:rofl:
