Went to a farm I have permission to hunt for the first time this year. Hunted with a buddy. We set up in a spot we call death ridge. I saw this guy early. He was rubbing a tree. He came straight into my stand headed towards a pine thicket and I shot him at 4 yards. Then while I was getting settled the doe started blowing at me and finally looped around and came in and gave me a shot. Both deer went into the booger bear pine thicket. After looking at the arrow it was obvious I had hit the buck back and so we went back in after lunch and found both deer. 2 a day in Virginia, some northern Va. counties have no daily limit.

Sacrificed clarity for brevity. Been hunting there for years. First time this year.

My buddy showed up at this point with my stuffer. He stuck around and helped me out so I got done much faster.

    Hobart set to go.

I have had mine for 10 years or so. They are super quiet. My friend who borrowed my plastic stuffer has a dedicated grinder and it is loud. Grringrringringringring.

I usually put about 10% beef fat in mine, but couldn't be bothered with this run. Kroger is about the only place in town I can get it and I would have had to drive all the way across town to get it.

great job,it seems the outdoor industry has put the focus so much on antlers that the real purpose is not mentioned enough ,it is about healthy meat:yes:

I have the permit to hunt there in order to reduce the herd. We were there to shoot deer, the fact a nice buck came in was gravy. This was in Albemarle county; the richest county in Virginia. I call it a farm but it is really an estate like most of the places around there. What grinds my gears are the guys that get permits to hunt places like this on the promise they will kill numbers who then just buck hunt and lie about how many they took in order to keep it. It happens a lot.

i did not mean i dislike antlers,i have boxes full i just dont like how the whole ''industry'' has changed not to mention the tv stuff i did not mean anything offensive ,that is a great deer, but the meat is what matters.

You gotta check out Steve Rinella's Meat Eater show. It's all about the meat.

I didn't take your statement that way at all. I was basically agreeing with you and didn't think you were being judgmental at all. :)
