Had just about everything split. Now my Tree Service tenant (we trade wood and his cutting trees on my property for rent) brings more wood this morning. The chips are dumped in a pile outback that I used for making Compost. Seeing as I have to run my Restaurant first I came up with what I thought was a brilliant idea. I am only going to split what is already bucked and sell off the longer pieces by the pick up truck load as I have had people ask me if I would so they could process the wood themselves. My thought is $50.00 for an 8' pick up bed loaded and strapped down. I think this would be a good deal for both the buyer and myself as it should be more than 1/2 a cord.
It does cost me as I don't get any monies for the 3 parking spaces he uses as well as not having to pay to dump the chips at the County Farm where they make Mulch and then sell it back to people. I have a UTZ chips guy who pays $100.00 a month and he only has one truck. So all in all it works out for both of us.
I only use two or so cord a year and sell off the rest of the firewood. This whole thing started 10 years back when I began clearing the back two acres as people were stopping in my restaurant asking are you selling the wood. Then I got this brilliant idea, why not? I do enjoy it and it does serve to relieve all the stress I get in my everyday life.
