First time I've done this much splitting at one time. Ususlly, I split in small batches. This year, just stacked my rounds in a sunny area and for the first time I rented a splitter, 22 ton iron and oak. What a treat that was! My son and I split up ash, elm, boxelder, crabapple, apple, mountain ash, cottonwood and evergreen. Glad I had the splitter for the evergreen, don't think I'll ever take any of that again, at least that big.

Yup, the best! Worked his tail off too. Broke a round open and it was full of bullets. You would've thought there was gold inside he was so excited.

I call them evergreens, guess the proper name is spruce. Short needles. Neighbor had one taken down, must have been 60-70 feet tall, I got 20 feet or so of the trunk.

No idea how many cords. Pile looks much bigger in person. Splitter ran me $70 for 24 hours, worth it to me! I definitely need to buy one though. Stacking to commence once I recuperate, lol!

A splitter is sure nice to have around. I will split what I can by hand, but its sure nice for those stubborn rounds.

neither til pay property taxes in 11 days.. :bug:. Up here in winter a few of my friends bought the hydraulic leak return ones for 650 in December... So a Christmas present for me.. I'm hoping... hard to justify with dad's old Lafonde out back that still works.. but I really want a vertical option and one that has split catcher on end. Also want another trailer, chainsaw, and a cool grapple bucket for Kubota like Gasifier has.... but only 1 present for me a quarter....:(. I think in the choice I would get dirty hands because I really like the auto return function

Priorities always come first. Sometimes it's good to wait because most of the prices do come down in a few months. I heard good things on the dirty hands splitter.

When you hear a noise tonight it is only raccoons playing on your split pile pay no attention. I will be er they will be gone by morning. I'm sure their trailer can't fit it all in on one load.
