    More touching I think. Usually smooth them out in the hopper to make them all level after I fill it. Have no idea why.

    Know I asked this before but I don't remember which way you decided on. Are you adapting into the old wood stove thimble and stopping there, or going all the way up to the top with the 4" vent?

    Adapting to an old wood stove thimble and stopping there it's a tile chimney that is lined with a stainless steel pipe all the way up .
