I was able to get a pick up load of construction scraps. Good clean wood and a lot of it already cut to short lengths for burning. I also out of curiosity checked the moisture content. Averages around 10 to 12 %.
This stuff will make great kindling and should be enough to get through all winter, but I can get more if needed.

What a landscape! With so few trees, where does the wood come from?

I either go to the mountains to get wood or to the city of Cheyenne go get wood that has already been cut down by some tree service guys I know. The construction scraps came from the Cheyenne compost area.

Nice stack of kindling. Looks like there are still some pieces in there that are usable.

No, but I will take it. Really I was just showing that even in a place with a lack of trees you can still find wood to scrounge. It just takes some asking and talking with people. Of course it does not hurt that the tree service guys know I can help repair there saws or them teach them how to get a chain to cut like new again.
