Supposed to get a boatload of rain over the next 4 days. I've heard forecasts range from 5-10 inches and Virginia is in a State of Emergency. Hauled wood into the house for the first time this season as the highs the next 3 days will only be in the 50s. Also cleaned out and inspected gutters and drainage pipes. Built a small fire this evening, mainly to burn off the smoke from the stovepipe sealer. Will probably have a few more over the next couple of days, especially if the power goes out.

Got plenty of dry wood...just in case. I'm kind of enjoying the cooler weather right now.
Looks like lows around 50 here. No fire yet :)

Yeah really wish i had my stove installed but the rain is already here in Maryland. Hoping the hurricane doesn't come right up the bay and do damage in my area!

Noreaster AND a hurricane set to converge in the Mid-Atlantic this weekend. Flash flood warning starting tomorrow morning and going through Saturday. Rainfall forecasts are off the charts at this point. It does feel good to be prepared, although our camping trip this weekend I'm thinking will be cancelled....

Well I'm to far away to do much if anything but I will put the offer out there. If it gets bad and you need something just say the word I'll do what I can or will at least try too

Smart, Red! I'm wishing I had moved wood into the shed back during the dry spell we had. "I'll just wait a bit til things cool off" :headbang:

Red oak, yup my uncle got one of those papa bears.. He loves it.. as its 30 years old and primary heat source he spent 600 dollars on a rebuild years ago.. we got 4 inches of rain in last 2 days.. a months worth. 2 days of sun then more of gutter washers.. I am headed down to give him a hand as his diabetes is acting up don't want him to over do it.

Having my first fire this morning, not that it was necessary but it was a bit chilly. Really all I'm doing is burning a little cardboard and tissue paper to get the stop top warm enough to harden the stove black. But it counts!

THAT is what makes this a great forum. Lots of folks willing to help if possible. I think I'm good here, about as ready as I can be. Now we'll see what we actually get, and how many trees come down from this one....

Yeah I've grown to really love it. Welded new sides on it a few years ago, my FIL did it for me, and put all new firebrick in. Plenty of heat for this house, but I'm sure I go through more wood than those with newer stoves!
