Wasn't arguing, or saying my way is better - just expressing my approach. Of course my experience is with stuff that I can't seem to kill; forsythia, rugosa roses etc. so my method probably doesn't work so well for some other things.

In 15 years there I've never seen a one :(
Forsythia needs to be butcher back hard it only flowers on young growth it may look unsightly for awhile but' that chit grows 6' per year .and remember that pruning doesn't slow growth it stimulates it ,I think you are doing what you need to do in your situation . :)

My use of the word "arguing" was probably not the best.......I apologize.

As for your attempts to kill stuff, that's funny. But AFAIK, Will has a degree in this stuff, so for me, if he says that's the best way to do it, I'm all ears.

And I KNOW Will is right despite my desire to chop them down...... bogieb , believe it or not those bushes are atleast 30 years old. No water here, little amounts of rain, high altitude, wind driven, and 3-4 month growing season. I have to say I was shocked when I learned how often east coasters have to mow the grass and cut foliage down, so I understand your situation too :)

I bet this bush out east would practically be invasive!

In some areas it is considered invasive , it's max ht. is 20' more of a shrub than tree.

Spent the day working in northern Michigan. I saw the coldest temp I've seen this season on my way up there today. It was 37 a bit north of Cadillac with frost on roofs.

Lots of pellets in the parking lot of the TSC in Gaylord. If I had to guess, there was 60-80 tons sitting there.

Bit tired today. Rain came and went nighty night easy with the tinkle of the rain. Except at 12:00 is a CLP(oh wait they are called Ever Source now!!) showed up and lite up the whole road. Something must of been up as the crew were beating something(wood sounding) for quite a while. Didn't look like any one lost power and I confirmed tonight talking to the neighbors. Odd thing is when I ask em if the heard or saw the truck I got odds looks like maybe I was only dreaming!! But I know I wasn't Cause I didn't dream trippin over the dog or the fat cat asking to be feed.

Big dummy(but I love the big ol fool!) always thinks its time to eat. So we both had a snack!! ;)
