Anyone make or know where to buy handles for a saw blade like the one in the FHC logo? Got one hanging in the barn minus handles and I'd like to restore it. Thanks for any leads.
If you can't source them locally, I could probably help you. I do all sorts of custom wood working and wood turning. I would just need dimensions, length and diameter. I can finish them to make them look old too.
The handles on a misery whip are usually simple straight round items. Simply turn a handle to a reasonable size for a person's hand, cut a thin slot for the saw blade to go through and drill a couple of holes for the bolts that hold the handle to the blade. With the blade in hand this should be easily done in an afternoon. You must have the blade in hand to get the slot the right thickness, basically a hand saw kerf width will be close. The spacing of the bolts that hold the handles on must also match, be fitted to, the saw blade.
