My wife had been wanting me to get a new stove....we narrowed it down to the NC-30 or the Ideal Steel.
Last night I went to my local Home Depot and was talking to the store manager, I asked him how much for the display model (it was the only nc-30 they had).
He said he could take fifty dollars off.
I said hmmm, how come I can order one from Durango CO. for 650 plus 99.00 shipping...about 800 total, tax and all, delivered to my door?...He had a blank stare, didn't know why.....but said the best he could do was to take 100.00 off.
I said I would be back on sunday to get it. He said that's great.
Sunday morning, Day manager knows nothing about the deal, won't let the stove go for that price....But will hold the stove for me till the night manager arrives.
So I go back at 3pm, got the stove from the night manager at the agreed on price.

I got the stove off the trailer into the garage:picard:, now I have to figure out how to get it from the garage to the hearth...by myself. (and get the legs on...by myself) :headbang:
I'm counting on you guys to help me learn how to run it :)

Taking out the firebrick, baffle, and the door off should make it a bit lighter.

LP, you know me too well.
Ok, so I see you've already lightened the stove, so this shouldn't be too difficult.
I just tilted mine onto it's side, then undid the bolts holding on the base. Those are the same ones you'll use to install the legs.
When I tilted mine up after I put the legs on, I was a little concerned the legs might break, but I took my time and was very careful.
Getting to the bolts is a little tough, but doable.

Also, I have a feeling the colorado price is a computer glitch from last spring clearance sales that has not been fixed:whistle:

I have a little bit of work to do in the stove room before it's ready for the 30, so that gives me plenty of time to read your thread papadave. Thanks for the link to it.
Lord knows I'll need all the help I can get.
Time to get back to work in the stove room.

Congrats! You'll like the stove. I used my John Deere tractor to move it to the porch and then Harbor Freight furniture dolleys to move it in the house. But I have the regular base on mine. Since it was such a pain to do the NC 13 feet. Post up question there's enough of us to help, plus Mike from Englander is around to bump questions off of...

I got my 30 from the trailer to the hearth by myself. Put it on furniture rollers to get it to the garage. jacked it up with bottle jacks to get the pedestal off and put legs on. Put it on the furniture movers again to get it in the house. Made some makeshift ramps to get it up 2 steps. Once it was in front of the hearth, I jacked it up to the level of the hearth and put wood runners under the legs. I used 2 pieces of plastic landscape edging under the legs to keep from damaging the hearth as I slid the stove back. Once in place, I jacked each side of the stove up and pulled out the pieces of plastic. It wasn't a fast process, but it wasn't difficult.

Good deal on a great stove, should serve you well. Pretty easy and forgiving to run. Watch the baffle boards when loading or cleaning. Some like to add a piece of metal rod in sleeve of door gasket to take up the space between the boards. Did the stove come with the "hairdryer" style ac 16 blower? My blower was NIB, so I returned it for credit toward the larger Ac 30 blower. Are you connecting to an OAK?

Thanks for the tips on moving the stove.
The stove came with the hairdryer style blower.
    I didn't plan on connecting a OAK.
Been re-reading all I can about the 30....new threads and old.
I hope to have the room ready by Wednesday. It's supposed to rain here on Wed, I work outside, if it rains I'll be off from work.

When I moved my stove in I used furniture sliders under the legs.
    Just another idea for you

The pic of your stove with your wood in the background is great.

HammerheadC4 congrats on the new stove. I just got the same one and doing the install as well, rain is delaying it tho. I tipped mine over on its side after I took all firebricks and door off to remove the base and put legs on. Think its a size 14 socket and they are a little tough to get to but not to bad. With it empty and lightened it isnt to bad moving with two people so I suggest a home cooked meal or beer and a friend!
