Howdy all! Just like the title says, I have been living here for over ten years... doing the good parent thing and raising my minions. In that time I have failed to go out and make RELIABLE friends. I joined this awesome forum because of my mutual love of all things wood, lumber, tree, firewood, etc. As you can expect, I love the outdoors and would love to find some friends who are not so caught up in bars and city life. Something that I would enjoy is getting into deer hunting. My mom was an avid hunter when I was little, and I would love to get into it too. I live on the East side of Pittsburgh, have an open schedule since I am a stay at home mom, so come forth outdoorsy friends!
Depends on if you are a Steelers fan.... Sorry, just a MA-hole, kinda far but FHC are my virtual friends. Good luck in your search. Also, hit up a GTG if you can. None local to me, but maybe you'll find one.
How could you not be a Steelers fan if you live there..................... GO STEELER NATION.................................
I'm in Forest Hills. I don't have much interest in shooting anything and have nothing against urban life, but I like the rural outdoors too so that's something. How far east are you? Monroeville? Murrysville? Latrobe?
I am interested too, but like others, not geographically feasible ...... I am however here alot if you'd like some typing companionship
I lived in Swissvale till 7Th grade and then my parents moved to Scott twp...Too far away now as I live around Cleveland. Go Steelers!!
For close to a year I worked in a pattern shop that was set up in a leaking outbuilding of the foundry that used to be in Grafton. Not the most pleasant work experience I've had. My wife and I rented in Swissvale for about 5 months when we first moved to Pittsburgh. We had the first floor of a house on Hampton, up on the slopes. The hill was so steep it seemed practically vertical in comparison to northern Ohio west of Cleveland, and during a storm the rainwater swept down along the gutter so quickly and heavily I wondered whether it wouldn't be dangerous to cross the street.
Same issue for me but because I don't have kids. I joined the local gun club and range. Helped a little.
You could try our mapping feature too. Maybe this will get more members to jump on........ Members Map | Firewood Hoarders Club
I should look for a gun club, my mom used to be a competitive shooter when we lived in Memphis so I am no stranger to hanging out at a range. Lol, I have a load of logs to go pick up in Swissvale.
Honestly, I found the nicest people in Youngstown, OH and it's surrounding small cities and I live in PA. Maybe check out gun clubs closer to the border.
