This is the second stack of wood I have done. I have more that needs splitting and some more in the little valley that needs cutting to length.

I hope next year I will have better storage facilities. I need to get some tarps to throw over the piles to keep rain and snow off.

    Way to go Kimberly.
Nice to have the tools for it. That's one heck of a maul.
Yeah, have you been able to figure out the stove transport thing?

I hope so. The stove is still sitting in Vermont at the moment. Someone on here said they might be able to get it and bring it back to New Jersey where my friend could then bring it down and help me install it.

Yes, and it weighs a ton. I am glad that I spent the money for the little electric splitter and don't have to rely on doing all the splitting with that maul.

Nice job. The little splitter seems to do the job and that's a lot easier than swinging that maul. Now you need a pulp hook and maybe a Pickaroon/Hookaroon to help handle those logs with less stress on your hands. Actually I just bought something called a Skidderoon. I'm looking forward to getting back to gathering more and giving it a try.

Good job! That's a lot of work right there. What kind of wood is it? It looks like oak but I only see sweet gum growing around it.

It is mostly poplar as that was the first wood cut to add sun into the little valley. There is also some sweet gum but mostly poplar at this time.

They did not lie, it started raining in the night and it is still raining. I had intended to cover the wood before the rains. I found some plastic sheeting in the shed so I threw it over the stack and found some pieces to cover the smaller stack. Had to dig some drainage ditches in a hurry as well; which hurt every time I used the hoe because I pulled the pectoral muscle on my right side. It did not bother me that much lifting wood but some activities results in sharp pains. Can't get wood dry if I let it soak up torrential rains. Sometimes it is not so nice being single.
