I've lurked for awhile but haven't posted before. There's a lot of good info being passed around here and I thank you. And now on to the wood score. I usually keep an eye on the local craigslist ads but since I was going to be taking a friend to the Milwaukee airport last weekend, I decided to have a look around that area. I saw an ad for some locust wood from a 70' tree that a guy had taken down. He was asking $50 and the picture looked like a fair amount of wood. I contacted the guy, it was still available and I committed to pick it up over the weekend. I loaded my pickup and my 5x10 trailer and had to make one one more trip to get one more trailer load. So far I've split almost half of it and I think I'll end up with a little over a cord. That stuff is HEAVY and harder than Chinese math! Anyway, I wish I could have gotten it all in one load but I still think it was worth it.
Chinese math ain't so bad, just Google translate it first. Nice score, who makes that 2-way splitter? How do you like it?
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I'm not sure who makes the splitter but the warranty info says to contact YTL International. I bought it from Fleet Farm, a local farm/home store, bit it looks exactly like the one sold by Harbor Freight. It's just a 20 ton but I really like it. The dual action is pretty nice, seems like it saves some time since it splits in both directions. I'm certain it's made in China but so far the engine starts right up on the first pull.
