Ok, this is not practical but I'm eventually gonna try it. After it was too dark outside to work anymore, I started to think about things. Scary stuff at times. Soooo.. I grabbed the G-19 and stuck a AR fore-end grip on it. FAB Defense T-Pod G2 PR to be exact. It's heavy and clunky and I don't use it, but.. it splits the grip and has adjustable legs. It becomes a bi-pod. I placed it on a bench and had a nice steady hold. Go figure. So, I may actually try this at the range next time. What the heck, right?
I just know I'll have to bring at least 2 "legit" guns with me also, save me from "those" looks from other shooters. not really- Seriously, when have you ever seen a Glock 19 with a bi-pod? It sticks out about an 1-1/4" in front of the slide when attached, but it gives me bad ideas. You ever see the Jeeps at 4-Wheel Parts shops? Look like they went through the entire catalog with the "crap magnet" activated? I fear that future for the G-19. I have an account with Brownells.
Can't be any worse than the guys who have 114.7lbs of chit hanging off the rails of their ar. Lol. On another note, is your camera broken? Lmao
Good call, I checked out the AOW for pistols, and could have had a problem. And then, as luck would have it- I had a LEO pop in the shop. I asked her straight up about this. She was totally unfamiliar about that, but that's not surprising. I explained the BATFE statement as I understood it, her response was- if it locks on, and un-locks and is not permanent, WTF- who cares? We smiled/smirked at each other, then fist-bumped. I'm not concerned should I try this at that public range.. LEO's are normal people, mostly. Most of them get "it", but I guess it really depends on their maturity level and age.
Yes, but would hate to see you spend a decade in federal-pound-me-in-the-azz-prison because some LEO got a rod up their azz and decided to press the issue. Check out US v Olofson. Short of it is he loaned an AR to a fellow and it malfunctioned at the range, firing a burst and then jamming. Turns out the fellow was on the BATF dole. Locals siezed the rifle and turned it over to BATF. BATF labs fiddled with the rifle and tried different types of ammunition until it would fire 'full auto', it actually was slam firing. The rifle in question was also part of a BATF mandated recall years ago for just such an issue, but the BATF refued to recognize that in court. He got 30 months in prison and an appeal was denied.
Possibly, but I'm not concerned about a SWAT team busting down my door because I asked a question or tried so see if something fit on something else. redneckdan's advice is well heeded, and if I lived elsewhere, I'm pretty certain the LEO's response would have been different. If nothing else, others who think about trying these same sort of things might benefit from some of this input. That is not a bad thing.
