image.jpg image.jpg Received the Stihl 036 Pro from Foragefarmer. It was shipped fast and packaged well. I put the bar and chain on, topped off the fluids and fires it up right away. Man I liked my MS251 but I didn't know what I was missing. That was the first good saw I bought when I bought our house. I didn't know how much I'd be cutting since we heat the house with the wood stove. This saw runs and cuts great! I had to cut a few pieces right away. I can't wait to get back down the road and work on some of the big pine logs that are in my neighbors yard.

The 251 is a great saw by all means. But that 036 will serve you well in bigger wood.

    Congrats!!

The 036's are very nice saws and they respond well to alittle muffler modding. 60cc saws are in a nice range for most wood cutting and I like the power to weight ratio in that range also. Nice choice.

Congrats! I was having a hard time resisting that one - I've been missing mine since I sold it to Drvn4wood. But I made my offer just a little too late. :)

They've got a perfect power-to-weight for a firewood saw IMO. And the exhaust note has a little something that the newer saws lack... :saw:

What a great day to drive up to Lake Tahoe and what a great deal. It was a C/L find. Pulled the muffler off and the piston looks like new. 25" bar is coming off and replaced with a 20" What a great firewood saw! 001.JPG I love the old Stihls!:)Not only that but you can never have too many saws!

Yea you will wonder how you used that 251!!

Now you will be looking at a 440/460 or 660 soon for the big stuff!

this is how it all starts (I've seen it happen) be careful from here on out...... :)

A guy is fine using a 40-45cc saw for firewood duties, then he joins a saw forum, next thing you know he has a 60cc saw, and after using it he just cant seem to figure out how he got by without it,,, then a few weeks later a 70cc saw shows up, then a 77cc saw appears on your door step, it only gets worse until you end up with a 90cc saw,,, then just when you think the worst of it is over.....

You'll keep reading the same saw forums that got you in trouble in the 1st place,,, and the next thing you know your boxing up your saws and taking them to the nearest FedEx drop off place, to have a gun wielding chimpanzee in TN give them a working over.... true story

It will get worse before it gets better...... I promise :)

    nice 036 BTW :)

Well those big saws are nice if your cutting up some big wood but if your out all day getting firewood and limbing then those big saws start hurting your back, and your arms and hands start to get tired and then accidents can happen. A 60cc saw feels pretty good after cutting all day. I have all kinds of big saws but when I go to the woods I take my 60cc saws. Good power to weight ratio.

I know what you mean but I still take my 71 and 84cc saws with me to work all my wood up.
