Always a last resort to cut down a relatively healthy tree. We recently had a huge oak tree fall on our house but I still love being in the woods. I always feel at home in the trees, I guess growing up on a Minnesota farm with a large woods has stayed with me a long time.

Sometimes the easiest tasks become the all day long CF's, the rotten half is down, a bit of restacking and addition to the wood pile is gooder

Looks like Backwoods Savage called that one right even from his milk crate in MI. Good crew here. Really glad it came down without bad complications. I love having tress on my lot, but I really don't care to have any that can damage my home or present a risk to the grandchildren.

Those are the sort of trees that make me love my wee polesaw (w/14" bar mounted), cable-winch, wedges & tow-straps. Anything to keep your face out of the place, and keep your face in its usual place.

Always safer to drop a dying tree before it rots.
