EEK, that's a lot of $$$$.$$. What do you normally have for tires in your normal winter? I know here in Maine, it is all over the place. Some run winter treads, some run all seasons, and some run the studded tires, but the studs are limited to time of year by law. With most vehicles being front wheel drive, the tires on a vehicle has have all 4 wheels the same. I've run winter tread for the past two years, but this year, I'm going to go with all season's.
Not so much here yet. Can't tell that by the temps! But the length of daylight sure is getting shorter and shorter.

I find all season tires are pretty much the same as the "old" summer tires and don't provide much in the way of traction when the weather gets real dirty, so I use true winter tires in winter. However, some swear by all season and have used them for years. On a side note, in Quebec, the government has mandated that winter tires be used from (I think) November to April.
Fall is late here. Take a look at last year compared to this year for foliage: the first one is this year, as of 24 September. The second one is last year, same date. then 2013,2012, and 2011
studs (for tires) are 10 dollars Xtra per tire on best money you will ever spend on ice ! noisy though
We started studded tires in 1994 our first year at the farm. Lots of hills and ice. Had em ever since.
New ones have more of a cushion so less damage to roads.. State of Vermont Dept. of Trans. recommends them for winter travel. Put out public advisory against all seasons "you need a real snow tire " I guess that translates to.. you live in Vermont be prepared to drive in snow cause we are only gonna plow sand salt interstates, highways and intersections! Cause we want to spend gas tax $$ on 3 million dollar bridge for hiker only on long trail for hiker to not have hike 2 miles to a road to cross the river! Sorry but that's our state for you that bridge is in Bolton VT
Had my first fires of the fall. Decided it was just as easy to burn the weeds as to haul them into the woods. Really like the FS110 for cutting tall weeds.
