Another co worker found out I burn wood. He said he lives in a wooded are and has wood down from storms past several years. I says "be right over after work". Found some nice ash (see pics) some maple a a really nice cherry all on the ground. Got this load for about an hours work.
Yeah a lot more than what I thought. Gonna hit it again after work tomorrow and will have better estimate then.
Well went back today after work. About 86 degrees but no humidty to speak of. Started in on some downed cherry. had to roll/carry about 20 ft to the truck. Made a dent in it about an hour and a halfs work. Lots of sweat and gatorade. Everywhere I look I see cherry and ash down. Me thinks I found a honeyhole.
Thanks. Would have cut more but was kinda running out of steam. Then had to unload when I got home. Off tomorrow so gonna hit it hard. Gonna do some splitting this weekend
Good catch, markr. Several good loads to build up your stacks! Whenever I haul home free wood, I wonder if I should feel guilty about taking something for nothing (until I gift the donor a bottle of something for their generosity).
Yeah. The guy I am getting this from burned wood on a limited basis. Guess he had a chimney fire last year. Havent talked to him about it much because he works in differant division. I gather from him that he is a little gunshy now. Told him as repayment for the generousity, I would bring him a load of split wood. But make sure his chimney is repaired/replaced prior to burning. He was happy about that. I will try to educate him more in the meantime.
