Just curious to see how far everyone's wood shed is from their house. I would like to have one, but I don't have a good location that is very close. I typically keep about 1/2 cord of wood in the garage and re-supply from the stacks as necessary.

If you have a wood shed, do you still have a staging area like I do with my garage, or do you re-supply from your wood shed?

    Thanks.

I can get to the wood from either end of the shed. 25 ft to one end a little over 50 to the other end. I try to keep at least a face cord on the front porch racks and refill them when and if there's a break in the weather. I usually jump back and forth from the front porch wood to the wood shed when getting more wood, depends on how lazy I'm feeling or how cold it is or both.

If the wood was further away, I'd definitely have a lot more staged near the house.

My woodshed is about 50' from the garage and 100' to the Bilco where I toss wood down into a couple bins on casters.

If memory serves, 13' to the close end as the crow flies, and I'm not sure about the other end.
I will sometimes load a few days worth on the porch, but if it's going to snow, that wood will get wet, so I don't do it too much anymore.
I always have slippers or shoes on, so a walk out to the shed is easy.
My wife made a nice sling for me to carry in a few splits.

The wood shed is around 50 ft away, but I have pallets of wood spread out in different locations up to 1500 ft away.

I can fit about 1.25 cord on my front porch - roughly 2' from my door; about 10' from the stove. :D

The rest is mostly staged on pallets around my garage - about 50' away. The holz is about 20'. I'll refill the porch as needed when I get breaks in the weather, or I run out. I keep my shoulder season wood the furthest away - in the back yard, probably 75-100' away. If there's snow on the ground, I'm probably burning the better stuff anyway, so having to walk a little farther to get to the shoulder supply is not an issue.

Roughly 2.5 cords of black locust in the bottom, and 1 cord of black cherry on top.

Mine is about 40' from the back door. As winter approaches I have room to move a half cord into the garage. Then every few weeks I need to restock it from the shed. I can't seem to find the shed pics but here's the garage.

Mine sets about 40' to the side of my house, holds about 3.5 cords. I added some pallets at this location and put another 1.5 cords there also for atotal of 5 cords. The rest I stack and cover in different locations.

My little makeshift woodshed is 50 feet from the house, stacks 50 to 200 feet from house, then I have another face card rack about 25 feet, two little mini sheds on the back porch

I dry the wood in my barn and bring it up to my attached carport pre-use. Carport has racks for about a month's worth. There are enough good weather days that I can fill the empty racks when it is at least dry if not warm out.
