Anybody make their own pickaroon? Just looking for ideas. I have an old pick axe wondering if that would work. Thanks
It should work. I saw someone post som thing on a site about trying it and realized I had one laying around. I might start before work tomorow. I will post pics if I doo.
Well, I got the old pick axe out today. I'm not gonna make anything with it. It's heavy and I don't think it will work well. I have an old axe I'm going to use. I think that will turn out better.
I started making one like this a few months ago, after watching this video. I got side tracked and haven't finished it, but should turn out pretty good. I'll posted some pictures when I get a chance, this weekend.
looks similar to mine, I posted a picture in the other home made pickaroon thread. I got more to do on mine. cutting down similar to where you got those two cuts
This is what I ended up with. Still some rust pits but I got tired of sanding, figured for a dollar it doesn't have to look great. I used an angle grinder with a cutting wheel and grinding wheel to shape this out of an old axe.
White vinegar is supposed to work at getting rust off, but does that really need to be rust free? Prolly not. It'll last a looooooooong time just like it is.
Got to use my pickaroon yesterday. It worked really good. I was unloading wood from my truck and it was good for hooking and pulling the wood to the tailgate, no more jumping up in the truck and back down.
I tried to make one from and old wood baseball bat. It did not work well. The bat split in half after a week.
