    The 064 or the 066? My feeling is keep the 064 since I am not noticing a difference in power and it is a little lighter. But the 66 might be better if I got a mill. Which I have been kicking around. Thoughts?

    Parts.
    Its all about parts to me.
    10 years from now, which one will be easier to get parts for ?

    I dont know if I could sell eithor one, but if I had to get rid of one, parts would guide my answer

    I'd keep the 064. You can always get a larger saw for milling if that day comes.

    If you're worried about parts grab a gasket set and pto bearing for them. I would rather have a poly flywheel 66 for milling if it's got to be Stihl.

    Doesn't have to be a Stihl. I just happen to own a few.

    As long as you toss them in the pot holes.

    I'm in the "keep the 064" camp. The power difference that you don't notice now you won't notice in a mill setup. I don't think you'll have issues finding parts for either in the foreseeable future either, but one never knows when/if that will change.

    If you sell the 064 and change your mind it will be tougher (and more expensive) to replace than the 066. For what it's worth, I sold an 066 when I got my 064 and I haven't had a bit of regret.

    Good luck!

    :rofl: :lol::rofl: :lol:

    And my post is almost what Dex posted. And seriously was going to post the laughing smiley at guidos post before I saw his.

    And I too would keep the 064. If its lighter and you can't tell a difference in power keep it. I kind of have a feeling parts will be around awhile. There are aftermarket things available and parts saws will turn up here and on ebay for years once guys like guidosalvage look at what they have and start moving them or there discovered in shop corners.

    Both saws suck when it comes to getting parts.

    064 can be made into a pseudo 066 with a new top end. I'd keep the 64 :D

    When I bought the saw, it turned out the oiler was seized and worm was melted. I looked for an oil pump and noticed a lack of the correct one. So I went to work on the old one and got it going. Are they available OEM? I have not asked my dealer. Ebay had 2 used ones yesterday and a bunch of AM ones that say they will work but from a bit of reading and looking at the one on my 066 sure doesn't look like it will. That and the Bing carb are the only thing I am worried about and the carb runs beautifully and if push comes to shove I know I can put a Walbro on it. P and C are clean given the age of the saw.
