Backwoods Savage , I had bought this last summer from the Wood Chop Shop so I put it on a brand new chain (18-20 feet) I bought about four years ago, this should do the job. I also grabbed the 28 inch bar to take up with me next time but first I'll need to take care of the tops so we have a lane for pulling the logs/rounds up. We had two cold fronts move through which cause some heavy rains (more coming tonight) the first cold front dropped the temps from 86 to 72 and the second front dropped it from 74 to 64, yes it warmed up two degrees before the second cold front.
Send those cold fronts to us!!! Looks like we are in for a warm up for the next 4-5 days. Not looking forward to that.
That sound good to my liking! I'm looking forward to 40's at night and it won't be too long now. But first, we have a short heat spell to get through here.
It looks like we'll be in for some hot weather for the whole week, maybe the tomatoes will get some red to them.
My tomatoes about burned up this last month. They didnt do well this year. I think not enough water and fert on my part? I usually dont tend them well though and this year didnt seem anymore dry to me than normal?
The 660 went to the shop for a few small repairs, oiling gear was shot (that's fixed) but they found a small part around the clutch that was cracked so they ordered that, so once I get that back we'll be on the hill to finish the job. Lots of people up this way had problems with their garden this year.
Oh I have had plenty this year. Enough for us to eat and give a few away. We normally pick 5gallon buckets full and make sauce. I made maybe 1/3 of what I normally make. And I eat A LOT of tomatoes.
Backwoods Savage , I found that round that took off down the hill when I was cutting the Maple, it was well west of the area I looked in, I'll grab a picture tomorrow.
If you are pulling that up hill, you'd be best suited to keep the loads light. In other words short pieces. Anytime you pull logs, if you don't get the leading end off the ground, it drastically decreases how much you can pull. It will break chains and cables too as they hang up a lot. Good luck and God Bless
My plan was pulling it up in single rounds (15 inches) or double rounds (30 inches) with a small dray. Once we lose all the ferns on that hill, if it's a clear roll down the hill, that's will be another option. I had never planned on trying to pull it up in log length.
