I can reach out from the basement and grab all the wood in the bucket, even the pieces in the back of it and then stack them. Tomorrow I'll be done. I'll replenish the basement in late November and then that should do for the rest of the winter.
Now I can order my load of logs and fire up the Jred!

Took me a few years to figure it out. That's where the old masonry chimney was before I put in the SS chimney. Tore down the old chimney and made a doorway just for the wood. The door is insulated and has two handles on the inside to lift it in and out. Held in place by four sliding bolts like you'd lock a small door with. Sealing gasket around the opening too.

I call photo shopped on the last picture! The wood is split too uniform in size and too exact in length!:p Looking good though!

It looks great! But doesn't this introduce a lot of critters in the basement?

No. I pick up two pieces at a time in the woodshed and whack them together to get anything off. If I see something, I kill it. The odd small spider might survive but that's it.
Steve, it's just a few miles south of Pembroke where Rottiman lives. God's country.

Chris. You and Rottiman are just on the north side of God's country. I'm right down here in it just south of the St. Lawrence. :D

Great setup and idea. Good thing you have the tractor to eliminate some of the hauling for you.
My situation is similar, moving 2.5 cords to the 1st floor covered porch. It takes a little over a month for me to do it but I enjoy the exercise. I move a few loads a day after work and peck at it slowly.

    Chris,
I agree with others, nice setup. What kind of stove/boiler do you have? and how far is it from the pile in the photos?

Good to have nice dry wood close by when the winter winds are howling.

I've got friends up in Cobden (Logo's Land). The drive up through Bancroft to Cobden is absolutely unspoiled beauty. You're in a good place :tree:
