2 years ago I bought a Dolmar 5105. I have cut right around 20 cords of wood with it and it has been a solid work horse for me. The only issue that arises with it is that it may be a little temperamental upon start up if it has sat idle for a few weeks and I seem to flood it. After that it starts on the the first pull.

No problem to me to deal with great dealer up by Saratoga, with my 6100. That's involved picking it up at GTG, basic routine care and making it sing down here. Bud I often work with calls it "badass". It's sure got the sort of attitude I like. Lots of cutting per tankful. 24" bar not a challenge.

Compression tester reads 215 psi, so it can give you some exercise on single-digit-F starts. Keeps the pretenders away.

Unlike service access with many stihls, with the 6100 you can get there from here, and you can see where "there" is. Parts available all over, online, no factory-enforced embargo, should you ever need any.

Having tried a 421 up there, I was sorely tempted. A real singing sweetie of a chip-sprayer.

    I got 2 5100's, 2 7900's, a 520i, a 111, a 540, and the 9010..
7900 is the best saw ever made...
    Yeah, I said it...
    Lol..
9010 and 5100 are swinging in the top 10 too...
    Work horses all...

If I had some different species of trees to knock down I would be tempted to pick up a 7900. All I have to cut are various species of evergreens.

    I don't know why a 7900 wouldn't cut 'em?

Repeat after me, "I NEED a 6100." Say it convincingly. Just squeeze that trigger. Safe bet that you'll love it. Excellent at felling & bucking probably 90% of all hardwoods around here. Mine's had no problem bucking oak blowdowns over 2', with 24" bar. Lots of that, you might want, er, need the 7910. That's my rationalization for a 576 Husqy, a whole 'nother story.

It will cut them just fine. I have a hard time justifying the extra expense when the 5105 is more than adequate for the job.

I just love the way they they feel.

I suppose it's just what I'm most used to, but I've run bigger Stihls and Huskys, and I'd still rather have my Dolmars, even if one is blue.

That is the typical first statement, "I've never heard of them." and your picture is the typical result after a person tries a Dolmar.

I got my first Dolmar this spring and have only put a tank of fuel through it so far(I dont cut much in heat/humidity etc). I am anxiously awaiting some cool temps to get cutting with it. It is an "H" model too with heated handles, so that will feel GOOD when it's winter time. My preliminary report is favorable: a little heavier than the Swedish saws that I prefer(cost of heated handle was much less w/the Dolmar) and it has great power, torque, and antivibe. I really like the air filtration technology on the Husqvarnas and Jonsereds and I think thats where this saw lacks, but time will tell. IMG_20150625_183325_005.jpg IMG_20150625_183343_476.jpg

I'm pretty rural but there are 4 Stihl dealers within a 15 minute drive from me. The nearest Dolmar dealer is close to 45 minutes.

2 pages and no millermodsaws sighting?

Heated handles sound nice. Below 25 degrees and I become a wuss with achy fingers
