Yah, the .223cal./5.56mm is pretty small for hunting with. I hunt with a Marlin 30-30 (deer) or an Enfield .303 (elk). I had my AR-15 before the CA ban went into on them and I had a special "assault weapon" permit to keep it there. Its just a long gun here. I can do a lot more damage with a 30-30, and way way more damage with a British .303 than an AR-15, but public opinion and laws say otherwise.
I had two and both went for over 2k in cash and prizes. ar-15 is really not my thing I just got them cheap and sold high. I now have 9 Indiana deer legal long guns and down to 3 pistols. Tenpoint crossbow and a couple old knight 93k switch to 209 primers. I had a re-loading kit that would choke a horse and sold that at about 2x the resale as well.
Own a Taurus millennium .45 cal Also have a Taurus pt 732 .32 cal Belly gun (.32 cal) for easy concealment Millennium (.45 cal) for self defense. Just became a handgun owner........ damm PROUD OF IT TOO!!!
I had a Browning high power but went through some hard times and had to sell it. It was one of those guns I have regretted selling since the day I did it! That's one nice pistol right there.
Now that the weather is getting nice, I hope to get out for some more run and gun. Ill borrow my sons go pro this time.
I went to a gun show yesterday and handled some nice optics. Thinking of an eotech xpwS and 3x magnifier. I did see a few nice AR pistols.
Got the new Burris on the .308. Shot it a little over the weekend and got a rough sight in with XM80. I have been working on a reload for the gun and it seems to like 46 grs. of Varget best. At 11.1 pounds def. not a CQB gun but should work up into a good SAPR. The barrel is being difficult on break in and copper fouls but has been improving the last couple of cleanings.
My wife approves of both abbreviations. Looking at the EOTECH 512-A65, just for the AA battery requirements. We always have batteries around, pancake batteries- not so much.
I should have done the same. I bought a S&W M&P a while back because it was cheap and ammo was fairly cheap. I actually have a wood furniture kit for it since I hate "tactical" that much. For a while even a plain jane $400 AR-15 that got used to pound fence posts was fetching $1000+ $80+ for a brick of .22, 1.00/rd 5.56, etc If someone breaks into my house I might just beat them with a bat or the gun cause using a bullet would cost too much.
They feel pretty good against the shoulder, That's a Magpul buttstock. the original was mill spec. Ain't too crazy where the light is mounted, may change that around.
