So I found someone selling a cord of oak for $130 I said thats to good to be true but I inquired about it anyway. He said its two 8ft truck bed loads stacked in not thrown and its been split for at least 6 months so its seasoned good:rolleyes: I knew it wasnt but now Im wondering should I make the $130 ivestment for a couple cords to be ready in 3 years?

Sounds like a good price. I would tell him to bring it and stack it, when the stack measures 128 cuft, pay him.

Take it, that's a damm good price! Since the truckloads are stacked, you can measure before unloading.

Depending on how and where its stacked, it could be ready by the winter of '15. But if not, it'll only get better.

I think that is a decent price. You could buy a couple of cords to have on hand as a stand-by at least. For perspective, a cord of oak (white oak) here in OR is going for ~$325/cord on CL. "Seasoned" of course...

Right where I want to be.
Don't hesitate if you have the dough.
C/s/d "seasoned" Oak here is anywhere from $150- 195.
Do you have the room? Money in the bank doing nothing but collecting interest and saving you money in the long run.
Consider the 6 months a nice little jump on the "seasoning".
Your response tomorrow should include 8x10 glossies of the stack.:D

Dave thats a great chart there good info to have on hand. Im going to talk to the guy some more and see if he can deliver a couple cords after the first of the year. That should give my yard time to dry up and me time to lay out some pallets and find a spot to store it for the next couple of years.
