I got some firewood cut this week but the ground isnt frozen enough at the moment to haul it, as we just had a thaw. I am cutting on some land of my brother-in-laws that was logged about 1.5 years ago. I cut on it last winter also. I hope to get 3 years ahead on my wood supply. Lots of red oak. For some reason I havent come across much white oak in that woods. So I am cutting as much as I can now and I will go in when the ground freezes again and haul the wood out of there.

Sounds like a good plan. Take some pics then. Warmup coming soon here too. Good time to check the chimney.

Nothing shabby about having three years worth of red oak.

    Great picture
Gonna be spoiled only having oak.
    Your plan sound perfect.
Good cutting weather, not fighting the thawed ground will save lots
    Of time & work
& you'll have good clean wood.

After that picture, we are hungry for more.
That's a big one by the saw, heavy too, .
Hope you don't have to lift those big rounds by yourself
Roll those big ones up a ramp, "back smart" :)

Sounds great HD! We're loaded with red oak in this area too.. Wondering how Zap's red oaks that he planted are coming along now that you mention it..

Awesome! There's just something about bucking wood in the winter and seeing all that saw dust on the snow. Nice pic!

Oak is 90% of what I cut and the rest is cause I go after it.

    1 ton of oak = 1/2 a cord

    Not a lot ,
    but,
Way more oak than I have . :) LOL
