Well it was 58 this morning and cool weather awoke the wood bug. So I went out to the barn and surveyed the wood situation as it stands.

We had meant to finish splitting the pile on the left but it got hot early and will have to be done this fall.

A row of cherry and two of red maple for shoulder wood.

And the good stuff, mostly oak with some hickory and black locust mixed in.

I came back with the weedeater and knocked all the weeds down.

Bit more than a shed at 60'x120'. :D When I was a kid most of it got filled with square bales. Now the hay equipment goes in the center isle.

Yes the GF and I will both split and stack on a rainy day. She is a far better stacker. I must confess that stacking is my least favorite part of the process and I want to just get it done.

Thanks everyone, sharing pics and getting encouragement from people that know how much work has been put into something really gets me fired up and motivated to get started on working up a few years from nows wood.

I have been struggling with a pinched nerve in my neck for the last month or so and am finally turning the corner and able to get some real work done. I guess I am not as young as I used to be and can't take being healthy for granted anymore.

Those stacks are definitely something to sit back, look at and be proud of. Alot of hard work went into them. Take it easy on that neck man, you deserve a break

Excellent farmer. But 58 is not what we call a cool morning here!!! But it won't be long now before the cooler air settles in for good.
