I got about half a face cord of crab apple today and was wondering your thoughts on it. Is it the same as apple on the btu chart? The one I was looking on doesn't list crab apple. Maybe it has a proper name that I am not aware of?

Crabapple is still malus species so it should be comparable to apple. The difference would be like the comparing Mackintosh to red delicious. They are all still apple.

I agree with Oldman. We've burned some and even burn thorn apple from time to time but that stinks almost as bad as elm.

I will try to get some pictures once its split and stacked. It's going to be a little extra work because it has all kinds of sprouts everywhere, but apple has a pretty decent btu rating so it should be worth it.

agreed, as long as the rounds are a somewhat decent size
