Due to clearance issues, my long awaited Jotul Castine will live inside my fireplace. The height to the lintel is 31 inches. The height of the Castine is 28 1/2 inches, so it will fit. With the short leg kit, it is 26 inches tall. Question is: Is there an advantage to the shorter height in a fireplace install? Does it allow the heat to circulate out of the firebox better?
The long legs will only allow 2 1/2" to attach the liner, not sure that's doable. I'd go for the short legs, more room and better circulation.
Todd just posted a pic of a small fan under the stove pushing cold air to the back and up over the stove. That would help a lot on a FP install with a insulated block off plate.
front clearance. to make my 16 inches, 3/4 of the stove will be in the firebox. I'll look for the thread with the fan
