My first PC was an IBM XT with a 10 meg 5.25" hard drive. Noisy, slow and if you didn't park the drive heads before powering it off, you might not get it spinning again.

Some of the old voicemail systems I used to work on had 250 meg 5.25" SCSI hard drives in them. Had one several years ago that wouldn't spin up anymore and the backup tape was bad. Put the drive in a freezer for an hour, powered it up and it booted and ran long enough to get a backup. Thank God those old beasts have finally all moved on to the technology graveyard in the sky.

With my eyesight and hand tremor, those small things easily get to be enemy number one. Why do they make black buttons and keys on a black machine or keyboard? So, it I'm having a hard time with the computer, I can just talk to it and it does what I want. The dreaded Windows ten comes with a new option, "ask Cortana" just tell it to find or open anything and there you are! Speech recognition doesn't seem to be a problem. With my smart phone, I can just tell it what I want and that is what happens. Like, "call the Reb Barn in Augusta", or call Joe. or directions to a selected place. Oh, and before I forget (again) you have to make plenty of noise when playing ring around the wagon because you never knew what or who was playing on the other side!

I have been a week getting new carpets scheduled for the upstairs bedrooms. I don't like carpets, but the kids wanted it in their bedrooms. So Lowes has Stainmaster for sale with free installation, plus I can get 10% of on my veteran's discount. Well I have to tell you I earned every cent of that discount. What a bunch of BS trying to find someone who can write a contract of sale. We had all our measurements, but they said they had to send someone out to measure the job. Then there was delay after delay. Now they are committed to come Friday PM. My son is moving in this Friday! :hair:. If you can afford it, and if your mental health is of value to you, skip the big box experience.

I had VERY good experience with Empire Today for the carpet & laminate in this place, last summer. I talked to them on the phone, set up appt. for guy to come. Showed on time, we picked everything out on a Monday. We picked things they had in stock, but the selection was pretty good. If we had special ordered carpet, it would been about a week longer. They had everything installed and finished that Thursday.

That is what matters. With that, you would go back again, or give out a word of mouth recommendation. I didn't shop around at all, Unusual for me, but I am guilty. I've had mostly good experiences shopping there. This one, riddled with incompetence and it isn't over yet. I really like Lowes, and plan to continue shopping there, but I'll be very vigilant when it comes to anything beyond cash and carry.

    Save,

Love the Red Barn! Such good food and a caring owner of many charities.

We like to go about once a month.

The owner of the Red Barn was the speaker at my Granddaughter's HS graduation. She told her life's story. Her struggles, her losses, and her battle with ETOH. She is very inspiring. I've been impressed by her giving back.

I think it is built in insurance that the measuring is done correctly. I did the same with hardwood floors, they said the cost of the initial estimate/measuring would be deducted from the bill if I bought from them. Glad they are taking care of you:) Finallly!

Well the boss is at quilt club and I am already for my little external hard drive to arrive. Tracking says that it should be in today’s mail which comes around 11 AM. I burned a new system install DVD, this is always a lot of fun as I have tons of stuff to do after installing my upgrade. I might be down for a day or so getting things all up to snuff.
