My buddy at work has a husqvarna 61 (gray top) from the early 1980's. He bought and installed a new carb that was the not an identical replacement(NLA). The new one is a Raisman with a h and l screw as well as a throttle adjustment screw. There is mixed opinions on how to set the carb.

I am hoping someone here can give me some pointers on where to start.

It has a new fuel line, new air filter, new plug and fresh pre-mix gas. We can get it to burp, but not run. Any help is appreciated.

The low and high screws are in the sleeves below the throttle set screw.

Make sure the original carb and new Raisman carb impulse holes line up properly. If the crankcase isn't blowing on the fuel pump diaphragm, it won't run.
I'd start with 1.5 turns out / CCW from lightly seated on both H-L. T/TAS/Idle screw maxed in / CW.

We pulled the carb, the impulse hole lined up. Two turns out on h and l, and a little tweak in on the throttle screw and she is back up and running. We put the l screw in by 1/4 turn until it idled smooth. We'll get the bar and chain on later and give it a run.

    Thanks again dougand3.

Glad you got it. I too would of suggested 15 turns out and see if you can get it to run
