Senior Staff Engineer for a company that develops cryocoolers for private sector applications such as nuclear detection and Stirling engines for NASA flights. We currently have multiple coolers in space and just recently became the first Stirling engine company to run a Stirling engine fueled with Plutonium.

By Stirling, are you talking about the engines that run by hot/cold differential?

Yes, That's what we do. No mechanical linkages inside of the engine so the pistons are driven by gas waves.

Nowhere near that smart......... Most of my job is boring and frustrating. Lots of arguing with other engineers trying to explain why we can't develop their idea. I did just get done with a series of burst tests to validate some pressure designs we cooked up. Taking things to 6,000psi and busting them is always fun.

Right now has been really rough at work and my job is riding on our team finishing the development of a new cooler line. Lotsa late hours and frustration. This task was handed to us after it was in disaster mode and severely mishandled for two years. It's one of those situations where if it gets straightened out you are the hero and if it doesn't........ it isn't gonna be good

Started as a tool maker for Grumman, graduated to R&D, then technically retired. Went into the home building remodeling field which progressed into the environmental field.

Real Estate Appraiser for 32 years. When people ask about the job, I tell them I see the "Good", the "Bad', and the "Ugly"

Everyone has such interesting occupations and lives. I was a homemaker for many years while the daughters were at home before going back to school in the 90s to re-educate myself as a bookkeeper and secretary. Right now I am an almost retired high school secretary. The house husband keeps saying I can retire any time! :D My hobbies are genealogy research, sewing, walking and of course, firewood harvesting with Campinspecter.

I do like to cook especially baking but as I am working, Campinspecter has been cooking the main meals at lunch. Too much baking though goes to the hips and having just lost 60 lbs., I am not anxious to gain it back. I will be making shortbread for Christmas and with the fruitcakes will be all I do this year. Normally there are lots of other cookies as well. Thanks for the kind comment.

I'm a double naught spy, but only because I couldn't get a job as a street car conductor or fry cook.

Don't feel insignificant for one second for being a homemaker. I applaud you. The importance of making a home and raising a family is all to often overlooked in today's "me first" society.
