Had some spare time so I could not think of anything more productive than working the wood.

I'm pretty sure I'm a btu processor. But, if you process all your wood with an axe, does that make you a wood whacker? And if you spend a lot of free time on here checking out other guys stacks, does that make You a wood gazer? Just wondering

'18-'19 officially underway thanks to a very local scrounge. Neighborhood deal so the big rounds got the log tongs and FEL treatment rather than noodles. 2 hours and a healthy 3/4 cord.

    Intro in 3...2...
First real post. I'm a full blown 15 to 20 cord = SWA (severe wood addict). Found the site while searching for info on square filing chain. A user linked me to Mikes 30+ page post.
    Here's a few pics:

I grew up in a home heated with wood. I personally got started when a local orchard started selling permits to cut pushed over apple trees for $1. Beginning of '09.

16 cord later (yes all for $1), I became the full blown wood junkie. I average about 6 cord per season. I put a Baker wood/coal stove in my basement close to my oil furnace. When I burn, I remove the blower motor door and it pulls air across the stove. Not the most efficient, but it works in this house.
Realizing my equipment wasn't what i wanted, I upgraded. The T100 got sold and I bought a Tundra. Same for the Husky 450. I knew it wasn't what I wanted for the larger wood I was about to get into. So I stepped up to a new 357xp.

My grandmother owned 16 acres just about 100-150 yards from me. I was able to get wood from there for quite a while. Had to get some airbags too:

Got a splitter after getting into big wood. A CL find and a good deal at the time. If I remember it was $600. 34T Huskee that was gently used buy an older gentleman that was just too old to use it anymore.

With wood 100 yards away, my BIL sold me one of his Wheel Horse tractors and I started hauling this way:

I also learned the hard way to pass on any free elm.

I know 2 arborist with their own business. I occasionally get removals. My latest was a large walnut tree. He let me slab out 2 big chunks which I eventually had milled.

A little before that, my chainsaw addiction kicked in. Rebuilt my dads old 50 and had a blast. It was straight gassed and needed some love. Had my then 14 year old son help. It's the primary saw he helps me with.

Getting the help I needed from ArboristSite, my "addiction" really took off. A friend sold me this for $100.

So I currently have the 394, a ported 357, a 346, the 50 and my grandfathers '59 Pioneer 610. My boy also has a little Poulan we won in a raffle at the local AS GTG.
