Anyone having problems with the cheap 12gauge target loads? We've got three 12 gauges and they all jams when using these shells, some worse than others. Shot a box through my 1929 today-- 4 of 25 actually ejected on their own. Followed that up with a box of cheap federal and all 25 ejected. Hmmm, not happy knowing how many I have on the shelf.
I believe, with this "shortage" of ammo, the manufacturers gave up quality for profit. People are buying this junk as fast as the factories can churn it out.
Are the bases of the hulls brass or aluminum? I've noticed that the aluminum one's tend to hang up more, I think the metal expands more from the pressure.
870s expresses are known to not like aluminum. At least the newer ones that aren't welllllllllll worn in are. I'm sure mossys and the others are in the same boat. The guns are getting kicked out the qc doors as fast or faster than the ammo nowadays also. Stick with brass.
2 3/4 dram loads of a lot of the imports are playing havack with pumps and autos. If you polish your chamber it seems to help quite a bit. I'm shooting 2 3/4 Clever's (Italian) thru my Rem 1100 Competition and not having any issues so far, but I am a PITA about keeping my guns super clean. Shop I buy my shells @ reported all kinds of feed problems with average field guns. Latest shipment he just got is all 3 dram handicap Remington Gun Club shells (cheap Remington ammo) to avoid the complaints.
I quit buying Winchester shells just for this reason. Very dirty shells. I'll only buy the federal shells now.
Finally polished up the chambers today, worked for her H&R, but not my Springfield 1929. However, a bit of putting remaining could be the problem there. Do I have to worry about widening the chamber too much is I go more agressively after these pits?
