I was talking to seriesiii109 (member) at work today. He was cutting some very large Cotton woods this week and one of the tree's got into a bind on the ground. During the last bit of the cut it came back at him/saw and crushed the top half of his 044. He's alright but the saw will need some repairs. I told him he can use my 046 if he sharpens the chain.:)

Large trees on the ground can be more dangerous than felling one IMO. Lots of strange loads on some of those limbs. Add to that, the main trunk can roll on you, and you better be locked in on what you are doing. It can be hard to read the load on limbs sometimes, at least for me. I like to cut a little and watch, cut a little and watch, then finish the cut if it looks like nothing is going to explode on me.

I have had a few close calls myself over the years. I have not had a saw crushed, but had some things happen I was not thinking were going to happen. Really lucky I did not get hurt. Always have to be careful.
