We have a local hotdog shop that has a chili sauce that we really enjoy. It's an Altoona thing. Gonna try making a chili sauce like their's tomorrow. The only ingredient i can't find is Heartburn. I thought it would come in a small glass jar in the spice isle. I know that must be one of the main ingredients.... they use a spicy brown mustard, chili sauce and super fine chopped onion(almost grated) awesome!!! Three of these babies will easily last 4-5 hours. And everyone around you knows that smell. It actually sticks to your clothes for a while
The chili sauce Plated I think it turned out good. I set the buns on top of the toaster for a minute. Now I gotta figure out a good brand of spicy brown mustard and a good hotdog. Heartburn starts in 3...2...1
Here in the Cincinnati metro area we have our own chili, much like what you're making there, but probably tastes completely different. We catch a lot of hell for it not being actual "chili", but we don't care. To us it's good and everybody here eats it. It's actually greek in origin. I make big batches of it a few times a year, usually using about 25 pounds of beef and freeze it in 1 pound containers. I can make chili dogs or 3-ways in a matter of minutes (our chili dogs are called cheese coneys). Put some spaghetti on a plate, put your chili sauce on top, cover it with grated cheddar cheese and you got yourself a 3-way.
These dogs you guys are making and talking about look like what I have heard called Michigans. ? I think that is what they called them. I have eaten them before when a co-worker made them and they are good. Sauce taste more like a combination of spaghetti/sweet chili sauce. A local shop in Ogdensburg, N.Y., called Wimpy's, was very popular for their burgers they called Wimpy burgers and their hot dogs they called their Texas Hots. I bet thewoodlands must have tried them at one time or another. ? They used a different sauce which is brown in color and more of a meat flavor. The sauce is called Wimpy sauce. That shop was in existence for many, many years here and run by the same family. Unfortunately, after many years of success they went out of business. But a local restaurant still has an agreement with them to sell the burgers and texas hots with their sauce. At least the last I knew they did. The sauce is so good we would put it on the fries as well. Burgers, Hot dogs, and fries, all with this sauce on them. Delicious. I don't think it is something healthy to eat every day though.
sounds good Norky At our local dog shop they have what they call Texas macaroni and cheese they use mac noodles some cheese sauce and their chili sauce. my wife doesn't eat hot dogs, or any cylindrical shaped meat portion, but she likes the Texas mac n cheese

Hey. That is a famous joint! I saw that on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. I have to stop watching that show. Waist.... line.... not..... getting..... smaller.
she toured a local hot dog packing company in high school, hasn't eaten a hot dog since. i think it was the smell that did it
My Father's side of the family is from Cincy, grew up with Cincinnati chili, never had beans in it, do you put cocoa powder in yours?
