I am in the foothills of Colorado 20 miles southwest of Denver. We are getting into the best part of the year
Yes, I remember that morning! It was in Tomahawk, I believe? It was close-but not quite that cold here same day.
Yes, mornings have been cool and I've even been wearing a polar fleece shirt for a small part of the day. Feels great too! Extra blanket in the bed now too. And yes, we too have been noticing more leaf color change in the past week along with several leaf drops, but this is normal.
Those are just a little farther along than here. Our lone Birch has been turning for several days, and I'm starting to see some change in the Maples and more so the Poplar. It's coming.
We have a few behind the Pond that are starting to turn here too loon . Seems a little early for these temps this cool in the morning. But, I am not complaining. Like the temps for working and just relaxing in. I have noticed something familiar with one of the last doozy winters we have had. I once again have a bumper crop of apples in the wild apple trees. Someone once told me if you have a big bumper crop of apples it usually means a doozy of a winter coming. It wouldn't surprise me. And I am with you on the far thing there Butcher . We have not had enough bon fires this season, yet. Time for that to change, starting tonight.
We're noticing a lot of dropped leaf from poplar and especially cherry now. This month is typical for cottonwoods to begin turning yellow too. Also the birch are dropping now.
Got to the cottage Friday afternoon and it cooled down real nice with the windows I had left open-64f. 99 showed up in the early evening (after a cool day) and ....yup! You guessed it right! Made a small fire in the nc-13. She reveled in it's heat, and pretty much melted and slept with the window open all night long...no covers!
Stays around 75 at night with 80% humidity. 95 plus during the day with same or higher humidity. I'm so ready for fall!
