Bob's the real deal. He was dressed like that as our GTG is more of a work party (taking care of blowdowns and hazard trees in a park that lost state funding/manpower) than a cookie-cutter affair. He's been a logger since the early 1960s.

I figured he had cut down some of the big uns in his day!!! And run these saws new!

Still can't get over hearing the forester (i am one too) I started working with talk about timber out west. One of his first jobs in his 20s was with the USFS out there. He was from michigan though. Talked about the huge fir and cedar. He started in the early 70s.

Was on front deck in 2 boxes when I got home this afternoon. Was very tired & hungry (hadn't ate since 5AM just had several bottles of ice cold water,we worked through morning break, lunch & afternoon break without stopping because of several small concrete pours.Grabbed 3 tacos on the way home, pretty much inhaled them after pulling in the driveway.

Then I got to work getting that beast running.Took a few minutes to open the very secure box & 6-7 pulls for it to run.But it sure did!! LOUD too!!!! :dex: :yes:After it was warmed up,1 pull & it was growling again... Then installed that 44" bar & huge 1/2" chain (actually looks bigger than the vintage new Oregon 5A 9/16" chain that's on my Mac 1-80 gear drive for some reason).

Sure the saw might've been overkill on 16" or so green White Oak:rofl:  ,but it was the biggest stuff I had that wasn't buried under a tarp right now. Nice big chips for sure....

A couple more pics and that would be a hard one to resist. Kind of a big unknown with the "low compression" disclaimer tho. All of a sudden your into it for a piston/rings, maybe a cylinder and certainly a gasket kit that hasn't existed for at least 20 years. Man I love old saws....

Exactly. That ''low compression'' was a red flag to me also.Finding all those parts & you could easily be into it for another $200,plus all the time spent searching/rebuilding everything.

Though I imagine if the seller would drop the price to $200 or 250 it'd go much quicker...

What I see is this - "This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available"
