"I have no animosity towards any of those people. Their military and our military were just following orders. We had no say-so. Our feelings didn't matter." - Ed Johann, a 92-year-old Navy vet.
would LOVE to swap stories in here with members of other countries service Members and Veterans! Soldiers are Soldiers, regardless of the flag they served under. when I was in Germany (Geibelstadt) the bartender at the NCO club was a WW-2 vet used to wrench on He-111's out of that very airfield. we both being aircraft mech's had some fantastic discussions over shots of Asbach Uralt. he was a terrific guy.
Mike, thats why this forum was all created. Everybody has someone who was either in, was there themselves. Enjoy this forum!
was an unusual aircraft, twin boom, twin engine fighter/ground attack bird. didn't get the "glory" of some of the other birds in the war but was a major aircraft especially in the pacific theatre
as I recall there were P-38's in on the op that resulted in Yamamoto's plane being shot down. was a mustang that got him I think but was due to different wings covering different sectors. as an aside the P-61 Black widow, was a night fighter that was based off the 38 airframe, arrived late in theatre and didn't get a lot of action, another interesting "twin boom" bird
