According to the rental department, this saw was rented 37 times, straight gassed, fixed, rented twice, then sold to me. I've used it for the last three years with no issues. Starts, runs, and oils just fine. Definitely not cosmetically perfect. The top cover has engraving from HD, but you get a new black one if you buy the OEM 79cc top end , and I have a black filter cover to send with it. One of the felling spikes is missing, but I can take one off my other saw if you want. Downsizing, not cutting as much as I used to, and I certainly don't need two of these. $300 shipped? PHO
Kinda glad nobody wants it. My cousin says he wants my 64/7900 after Easter, so I really should keep one or the other. Then I'll have some spare change for another 79cc p&c, and maybe even a road trip The unfortunate part is that there is nothing wrong with this saw, so that stuff would have to be done under the radar.
I would love to have it but money Is a bit tight right now due to some unexpected home expenses or I would have already snatched it up. I hear the power to weight ratio is pretty good on these saws.
I missed one the other day that was squeaked, for $75. Had I seen the ad earlier I would've been all over it, but I had to get to bed. It was gone before I was done with work.
I still have this thing, if anyone is interested. Finally getting settled in after selling and buying houses, moving, skipping town to play for a week, and all the other busy-ness that goes with summer. My 24x24 garage is still packed wall to wall, but this saw is on the outside of the mess. I'd swap for a small saw of similar value. I played with a PS-421 at my local dealer the other day, and that's what I will be buying with the proceeds.
Well, been kinda busy. Haven't been in a hurry to sell it. I kinda forgot about it, then I started getting a few calls on my craigslist posting. Those were all a bunch of lowballers that never heard of Dolmar and didn't know Makita made chainsaws They all thought I should sell that blue saw for $100.
I have a few hours with my BIL's MS 261, but there just isn't enough weight difference there to give up the extra nads. Nice running saw, but not what I'm looking for. Never ran a 346 or similar. Looked pretty hard at a PS-421 last week. It's currently first on the list. I still have a 7900 for serious work.
I cant believe this saw is still here?Ihave 2 one has the 79cc topend other stock great firewood saw stock.
Got a pair of 6400 and 7900's with various size bars- most of my work is done with these. one 64 is a hd cast off- carb was messed up - oiler gears melted - made repairs - good saw now.
I've only been halfheartedly trying to sell. Been a busy summer selling a house, and buying another and moving. Hasn't been a big priority. We're at a bit of a crossroads at the moment. Not really sure if we will continue burning wood, as I was offered a pretty darn good deal on a 'pre-burned' floor model Harman pellet stove. The more I think about it, the better it sounds. I probably have enough space here for a couple years worth of wood, but I wouldn't have much yard left. Dealing with the mess of processing wood won't be as easy as it used to be, meaning I won't be able to fork it in the trailer and take it back to the woods. A couple tons of pellets in the garage seems mighty attractive. This house is smaller and not in the wide open farm fields, and we have natural gas (though l.p. is under a buck at the moment), so I'm not sure saving money is going to be a big factor whichever way we choose to go. We'd be burning 'just because'. Decisions... Might have a couple more saws for sale. And a splitter. And a chain grinder. And a bunch of other stuff.
I've never let "need" get between me, and a saw purchase. Then again, that would explain the 17 saws I currently own.
