Cement Sealer for Walkways - Any Experience? - Is it worth doing?

Hello

After spending some money for a little concrete walkway, is it a good idea to help preserve it with a sealer?

I put down this cure and seal WB called MasterKure CC 180WB recommended by my concrete man.
Waterborne Acrylic Curing, Sealing and Dustproofing Compound

Did anyone have any luck with this type of coating? Does it help?

The curing portion is the most critical part of the product for exterior concrete.

I have used concrete sealers on my exterior sidewalks and driveways for years. It is not a difficult task to add sealer on a sidewalk or driveway and I believe it does help. Plus all three of my concrete subs say that it does help too. About 6 years ago now I poured a sidewalk around my office and my sub Dave told me to seal it after 3-4 days. I did. Then he told me in the first winter try not to put salt on the sidewalk. (that was tough) but I didn't. I cannot believe how nice that sidewalk has stayed no cracks, no spalling, no small pops, nothing. I haven't done anything to it since and I do use salt in the winter to get rid of the icy spots but I don't pour it on I just sprinkle it on as needed.
The other thing I have done for garage floor pours is I cover it with 6 mil clear poly for a week after we pour it and keep it damp. It gets hardened like all get out. Most concrete reaches 90% hardness in 10 days after you pour it. Faster curing is not good so the poly with moisture slows the cure to increase the hardness.
I believe you can go to the American Concrete Association website and they have a tips on this very subject.

My sub said I could put the sealer down the day after the pour. So I put it on yesterday. It was the good stuff from the concrete supply house not Home Depot. Hopefully it will slow the curing process too. I put 7 tons of 3/4" stone over the compacted sandy soil and we used the 4,000 lb stone mix with the synthetic fibers to prevent micro cracking during the curing process. Also for primary tensile strength we put in steel mesh and tied it to the foundation with rebar.

Don,
You and I are on the same page with pouring concrete. The only thing I did different was that I did not use wire mess but rebar 12"o.c. crisscrossed. Just a personal preference I think.
You and your concrete guy are 100% correct.
By slowing the cure time we increase the strength. I building dams and bridges alot of effort goes into controlling the cure rate. Good work.
