Rottiman, I live, work and grew up next to lake Champlain, 110 miles long 15 or so wide.. I keep trunks and towel in car. cause I don't want to grow up and this is the month that it is nice! if not at home I often stop for a dip on a ride lady (the Shepard) encourages this childish behavior and like creemee too!

Thanks for insight on ductless One reason on hesitating or saving is because top 3 floors have 16 foot plus ceilings on one side. want to build a chase next to brick chimney to balance Temps in house i.e. pull heat down in winter and push cold air up in summer first. HVAC, guy looking into it for me now)

After putting in the corn furnace this past fall, my wife was complaining about being too warm in the winter. Argh!!

When my wife and I get ready to go for a walk and she asks me what to wear and whether I think she will be too hot or too cold, I just say "yep"

 , true but no matter what there will be a comment of how the temp isn't comfortable.

yeah, I see people that wrap them is rigid foam for winter. my windows, 48 inches wide so you need to extend folded plastic all way out too much heat loss! Mine work great but the big one is 120 pounds and need 2 guy too put in. But I am glad your setup works Dennis especially with you back... How do you manage heat loss as I know Michigan can get cold!

Similar to Dennis, we have a small ranch and even with the crappy insulation, most times don't need air. We have a 5,000 unit in the attic that gets put in a living room window and used for a few days. Thinking about pulling it out of the attic, as we've had some toasty temps and are due for more.
Only takes a few minutes to put in.

There is very little if any. We've checked around the units during winter and no draft! We're happy. But I also remember that 120 pounder...

Fairly close when we originally put them in. Now they are in the wall permanently and working just fine.

Yesterday was not a good day for pouring concrete, but it was nice to be able to retreat to the AC.
