Honey locust haul!

I got a nice load of locust, and another load waiting for me to pick up! Hopefully the land owner will allow me to wait until Wednesday to get the second load. Heat index is supposed to get over 100*F today and tomorrow.
I forgot how heavy that stuff is green! It will be great BTU's when cured though!

How did you come about that home run?

 

I thought I'd add another pic! Fanatical1-it was simply luck! Saw a tree service cutting on the way home from work. I asked what they were doing with the wood and the fella said "waiting on you to get it picked up!" Lucky day!

They were doing the work at a hotel approx. 20 miles from my house, so I need to get it cleaned up ASAP.

 

You will have some real "sweat equity" in those locust stacks! Very nice.

HarvestMan - No doubt! I was soaked, but it was worth the work. It's hard to pass on good wood when you can pull up right next to it!

HDRock - The trailer is 8'X20' and has a hydro lift. It's not a dump trailer but it works for me. I use it to haul my 1025 John Deere tractor around too. That little loader tractor really helps on the loadin' of the wood!!

Horkn - I got the OK to wait for the rest until Wednesday when it's a little cooler and less humid. I don't think it'll be a FULL load, but I'm still happy!!

Hope to get it :stacke: this weekend with a little help from my wife of course. Don't tell her, but she's awful good help! I don't want it to go to her head though.

I love the scene from your yard with a field of sunflowers in the background. If that is your field, where do you sell the harvest?

 

Thanks Oldman47! It is my field. I don't harvest them. I mow them in strips and dove hunt over them.
The patch is very poor this year. I assume the wet weather has been hard on them. The heads are very small and the plants themselves are really uneven in development.
I hope the doves don't mind!
The plants are about 2/3's of the way open. I'll try to get a good full bloom pic on a sunny day!

 

I couldn't help myself! I had to get a little bit more today!! I think I may have a serious problem.

You are a sick sick man Pete. I'd be doing the same thing in your position. Hard to beat HL.

 

Have couple on PC & mini laptop,will dig them up soon.Nothing real elaborate,just a tool chest built in 1994from local air dried HL lumber that was found in a barn in the late 80's & a big bowl that was turned green in summer 1998.Possibly a couple other things too if I remember.
