Had one night in the mid 30's here, the last night and tonight; the 40's. One town in Wisconsin had 33f not too long ago! You can bet that there was wood smoke coming out of those cottage chimneys in that area! Just another friendly reminder that the days are getting shorter!!!

Your just staying in practice, Dave Some of us will have to jar the memory, i.e. how to start a fire... Especially after not having one since early May & not needing one 'til late October
Just a fluke. Happens every year. Won't stay cool too long. Not to worry. I wouldn't give it a second thought. It's easier to work outside when its cool anyway.......and of course, helps keep the bugs down!
I remember many moons ago we had to be in Grand Ledge (west of Lansing) in late June and about roasted. The high hit 99 degrees. The following week we were back in the UP and one night it got down to 35 or 36. We about froze...and loved it! Been in the 60's here. Very muggy today as rain is south of us. Last night was not bad at 54. Today, 67.
I don't even "think" of a fire until about Halloween.... I'll enjoy the cool nights when we get them and open up the windows. We don't use air conditioning in the house, we do have window units in the bedrooms for the 85+ nights. I personally am not a big fan of AC. I guess it's because I've worked outside all my life mostly. I would much rather come home to a warm house and a cozy fire burning!
Just put the stove back together tonight with the new cat, but I am not in any hurry to start burning. Personally I'd like to see about 2 months of 90ยบ dry days, I'm so sick of rain and mowing every 3 days I'm ready to fence the yard and get some goats.
A couple of weeks ago I went dancing. When we finished we went for Mexican food. Since it was so nice and cool out we decided to eat on the porch rather than inside. It was 91. It had been so hot that 91 felt great.
Wasn't there some guy who said something about global warming? He was a vice-president I think, and flew everywhere in jets....
