Today is a day to commemorate the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. We celebrate this holiday in many ways. Cookouts, parades, fireworks and other events. It's my favorite holiday not just because it's a day off and a cookout. The Declaration of Independence penned by Thomas Jefferson and modified by the Continental Congress is the greatest government written document of all time.

It's my personal pet peeve when people refer to it as Happy 4th of July. The date in and of itself has no meaning. The meaning comes from the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. It was not until 1791 that the term Independence Day was first used. Since then, it's been the way that this day has been referred to as.

Well, the first thing I think of when someone says Happy 4th, is this day we're in the middle of.
Call it whatever, and I'll still know. No mistake or confusion at all what it means. In my mind, they're synonymous.
